I’m still deploying Office 2003 at all my sites and have run in to the problem of compatibility with Office 2007 when students and staff bring documents and homework from home.
If you’ve installed the compatibility pack at home you know that it’s a very quick process, but multiply that by roughly 700 computers and it’s not quite as easy.
To make matters worse, Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, does not make available an .msi package of the compatibility pack. This means installing through group policy is not possible… or does it?
I found this quick how-to today and lo and behold there is actually and .msi of the package, post install.

I followed these steps, added the package to my group policies and now every machine is nice and 2007 compatible.
