This new telescope resides about an hour up the road from where I work.
“Located on Mount Graham in southeastern Arizona, the new Large Binocular Telescope uses two massive primary mirrors mounted side-by-side. It is twice as big as the next largest telescope on Earth and has 10 times the resolution of the Hubble Space Telescope.”Arizona Telescope Sees Deep into the Cosmos : NPR
It’s actually named the “Large Binocular Telescope.” You know they thought long and hard about that one
.

Dude. If I come out there, can we go to this?
I’m not sure if they’re doing tours yet, but I’ve been checking their site for info. http://medusa.as.arizona.edu/lbto/
I’d LOVE to go up there. Let me know if/when you’re coming our way and we’ll make the trip.
If they aren’t letting the public up there yet, we can always hit the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff http://www.lowell.edu/ or the Kitt Peak Observatory in Tucson http://www.noao.edu/outreach/kpoutreach.html
Count me in.
